The old St. Joseph Church
This painting depicts the procession of St. Valerie (relic) being brought to the church in 1868. This magnificent church was located adjacent to St. Joseph Cemetery. It burned in 1916, but St. Valerie was saved.
It kinda all started here...
I was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana in 1955. I grew up there, went to school at Mt. Carmel, St. Joseph, E.D. White, and Nicholls State University. I moved away in the 80s and now I am working on a collection of paintings on the history and architecture of the Thibodaux and Bayou Lafourche area, which I will post here. Stay tuned!
